Saconde deals in luxury goods and other potentially high-value merchandise. Identity verification and fraud-prevention measures are therefore important to protect customers, sellers, consignors, employees, payment providers, shipping partners, property owners, law-enforcement interests, and Saconde from identity theft, account takeover, counterfeit goods, payment fraud, stolen property, unauthorized transactions, chargebacks, money laundering, sanctions violations, shipment diversion, and other unlawful or abusive activity.
This Notice supplements, and should be read together with, our Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, Buyer Terms, Seller Terms, Consignment Terms, Payment and Payout Terms, Biometric Login Notice and Consent, Biometric Data Retention and Destruction Policy, Cookie Policy, and other applicable disclosures and agreements.

Unless permitted by applicable law, we do not rely solely on automated processing to make a decision that produces a legal or similarly significant effect concerning an individual.
5. FRAUD AND SECURITY RISKS WE MAY EVALUATE

6. PURPOSES FOR WHICH WE USE VERIFICATION AND FRAUD-PREVENTION INFORMATION
We may use the information described in this Notice to:
- confirm that you are the person you claim to be;

- provide notices or assistance relating to suspected identity theft or a security incident;

7. LEGAL BASES AND NECESSITY OF PROCESSING
Depending on the applicable law and circumstances, we may process identity-verification and fraud-prevention information because:
- the processing is necessary to provide a requested service or complete a transaction;
- the processing is necessary to perform or enforce a contract;
- the processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation;
- we have a legitimate business purpose in preventing fraud, securing accounts, protecting property, and maintaining the integrity of our services;

- you have provided consent;
- another basis permitted by applicable law applies.
Where applicable law requires consent, separate notice, or authorization for a particular category of information or processing activity, Saconde will seek that consent or authorization before engaging in the activity.
8. AUTOMATED FRAUD DETECTION AND HUMAN REVIEW
Saconde and its service providers may use rules, models, algorithms, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or other automated systems to evaluate identity and fraud risk.
These tools may consider factors such as:
- whether information is internally consistent;
- whether an identification document appears valid;
- whether a device or network has been associated with suspicious activity;
- whether a transaction differs from prior activity;
- whether shipping, billing, contact, account, or payment information is inconsistent;
- whether transaction speed, frequency, amount, or location is unusual;
- whether merchandise or supporting documentation presents authenticity or ownership concerns;
- whether activity resembles known fraud patterns.
Automated systems may generate a score, flag, recommendation, or request for additional verification. A flag or score is not necessarily a determination that fraud occurred.
Where appropriate, you may request human review of a verification or fraud-related decision by contacting hello@saconde.com. We may require additional information to authenticate the request and protect the account or transaction.
Human review may not be available where prohibited by law, where disclosure would compromise security or fraud-prevention systems, or where Saconde is legally required to take a particular action.
9. ACTIONS WE MAY TAKE
If identity cannot be verified, information is inconsistent, or fraud or other unlawful activity is suspected, we may, to the extent permitted by law:
- request additional information or documentation;
- require in-person verification;
- delay or place a hold on a transaction, order, shipment, delivery, return, refund, payment, or payout;

- require signature confirmation or identification at delivery or pickup;
- require use of an approved carrier or shipping label;

11. SALE, SHARING, AND TARGETED ADVERTISING
Saconde does not sell government-issued identification documents, identification-document images, account credentials, financial account information, biometric information, or fraud-investigation records for monetary consideration.
Saconde does not disclose such information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising unless expressly disclosed and permitted by applicable law.
Certain state privacy laws define “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” broadly. Saconde’s broader data practices, including any rights to opt out of covered advertising or data disclosures, are described in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
Fraud-prevention disclosures to service providers, payment processors, security providers, carriers, insurers, government agencies, or other parties for verification, security, legal compliance, or transaction completion are generally not made for advertising purposes.
12. BIOMETRIC INFORMATION
Some identity-verification, login, or in-person security processes may involve information that is defined as biometric information, a biometric identifier, or biometric data under applicable law.
Biometric information may include, depending on the technology used and applicable law:

- we will restrict disclosures as required by law;
- we will use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information;
- we will comply with applicable signage requirements at physical commercial establishments.
Use of a selfie or photograph does not always result in the creation or collection of biometric information. Whether information is biometric depends on how the information is processed and the applicable legal definition.
Additional information appears in Saconde’s Biometric Login Notice and Consent and Biometric Data Retention and Destruction Policy.
13. SECURITY SAFEGUARDS
Saconde uses administrative, technical, organizational, and physical safeguards designed to protect identity-verification and fraud-prevention information.
Depending on the nature of the information and system, safeguards may include:

14. DATA MINIMIZATION
Saconde seeks to collect identity-verification information that is reasonably necessary and proportionate to:
- verify identity;
- assess transaction risk;
- prevent fraud;
- protect merchandise, funds, users, and systems;
- comply with legal and contractual obligations.
The amount and type of information requested may vary based on the value, nature, location, history, and risk of a transaction.
Where reasonably feasible, we may use verification results, tokens, masked information, or pass/fail indicators instead of retaining a complete identification document or raw verification data.
15. RETENTION AND DESTRUCTION
We retain identity-verification and fraud-prevention information only for as long as reasonably necessary and proportionate for the purposes described in this Notice, including to:
- complete and document a transaction;
- maintain account security;

- enforce agreements;
- comply with tax, accounting, payment, sanctions, recordkeeping, litigation-hold, or legal requirements;
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims;

Retention periods may vary based on:
- the type and sensitivity of the information;
- whether you are a customer, seller, consignor, business representative, visitor, or account holder;
- the transaction value and risk;
- whether a dispute, investigation, claim, hold, or legal proceeding exists;
- contractual requirements imposed by payment, banking, insurance, shipping, or technology providers;
- applicable statutes of limitation;
- applicable federal, state, local, or foreign law.
When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we will delete, destroy, de-identify, or anonymize it in accordance with applicable law and our retention practices, unless continued retention is legally permitted or required.
Backup copies may remain for a limited period until overwritten or deleted through normal system processes, subject to access restrictions and applicable law.
Biometric information is retained and destroyed according to our separate Biometric Data Retention and Destruction Policy and applicable biometric privacy laws.
16. ACCURACY AND YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

- provide an address, telephone number, email address, bank account, or payout destination you are not authorized to use;
- manipulate selfies, videos, documents, receipts, invoices, or authentication materials;
- interfere with security, monitoring, or fraud-detection technologies.
Providing false information or attempting to evade verification may result in transaction cancellation, account suspension, withholding or recovery of funds where legally authorized, rejection of merchandise, reporting to law enforcement, or other legal action.
17. CHILDREN AND MINORS
Saconde’s services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect identity-verification information from children under 13 through our online services without legally required parental consent.
Individuals under the age of majority may not independently enter transactions, sell or consign merchandise, establish payout accounts, or submit government identification unless permitted by Saconde’s terms and applicable law and, where required, with authorization from a parent or legal guardian.
Saconde may request age or identity information when reasonably necessary to enforce age restrictions, protect minors, or comply with law.

- complete a transaction;
- comply with law;

- protect the rights, safety, or property of Saconde or others;
- maintain information required for tax, accounting, payment, chargeback, insurance, or recordkeeping purposes;

We may deny or limit a request where fulfilling it would compromise the security of an account, reveal confidential fraud-prevention methods, interfere with an investigation, create a risk of identity theft, or violate applicable law.
Additional state-specific disclosures and instructions for exercising privacy rights appear in our Privacy Policy.
19. HOW TO SUBMIT A PRIVACY OR VERIFICATION REQUEST
To submit a request concerning identity-verification or fraud-prevention information, contact:
Email: hello@saconde.com
Your request should include:
- your full name;
- the email address or telephone number associated with your account or transaction;
- the nature of your request;
- sufficient information to identify the relevant account or transaction;
- your state of residence;
- any other information reasonably necessary to locate the records and verify your identity.
Do not email a complete Social Security number, complete payment-card number, account password, or unrequested copy of a government-issued identification document.
Before responding, we may take reasonable steps to verify your identity and authority. Verification may require information already associated with your account or transaction. We will use information submitted for verification only for verification, security, fraud-prevention, legal-compliance, and request-processing purposes.
Where permitted by law, you may use an authorized agent. We may require proof of the agent’s authority and may separately verify your identity.
20. APPEALS
Where applicable state law provides a right to appeal our decision concerning a privacy request, you may submit an appeal by emailing hello@saconde.com with the subject line:
Privacy Request Appeal
Your appeal should explain the decision you are appealing and provide any information you believe should be reconsidered.
We will respond within the period required by applicable law. Where required, our response will provide information about how to contact the appropriate state attorney general or privacy regulator.
21. IDENTITY THEFT OR UNAUTHORIZED ACTIVITY
Contact Saconde promptly at hello@saconde.com if you believe:
- an account was created or accessed without your authorization;

- a shipment, delivery, pickup, return, refund, or payout was redirected;
- information submitted to Saconde was fraudulent;
- your Saconde password or device was compromised;
- you received a suspicious communication claiming to be from Saconde.
We may temporarily restrict an account or transaction while investigating.
You may also report identity theft to the Federal Trade Commission through IdentityTheft.gov and report suspected fraud through ReportFraud.ftc.gov. You may wish to contact your financial institution, payment-card issuer, local law-enforcement agency, and the major consumer-reporting agencies where appropriate.
22. PHISHING AND IMPERSONATION WARNING
Saconde will not request that you disclose your complete password by email, text message, social-media message, or telephone.
Be cautious of persons who:

- comply with applicable law;
- respond to a subpoena, warrant, court order, regulatory request, or other lawful process;
- investigate suspected identity theft, fraud, counterfeit goods, stolen property, money laundering, sanctions violations, or other unlawful conduct;
- protect the rights, safety, security, or property of Saconde, our users, employees, service providers, or the public;
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Government and law-enforcement requests should be directed to hello@saconde.com and should include sufficient legal authority, agency contact information, and information identifying the relevant account, person, merchandise, or transaction.
Nothing in this Notice requires Saconde to provide information where disclosure is prohibited by law, legally privileged, technically infeasible, unduly burdensome, or inconsistent with the legal process provided.
24. NEW YORK CITY RETAIL AND BIOMETRIC NOTICE
Saconde’s retail/showroom location is located in New York City.
If Saconde collects, retains, converts, stores, or shares customer biometric identifier information at a New York City commercial establishment, Saconde will post the signage required by applicable New York City law near customer entrances and comply with applicable restrictions on the sale, lease, trade, sharing for value, or other profiting from biometric identifier information.
A general security camera that records ordinary video does not necessarily collect biometric identifier information. Biometric laws may apply when technology analyzes biological characteristics to identify or verify an individual.
Any biometric technology used for identity verification, customer identification, or access control will be addressed through the applicable biometric notice, consent process, signage, and retention policy.
25. CALIFORNIA NOTICE
Identity-verification information may constitute personal information or sensitive personal information under California law, including government identifiers, account credentials, financial account information, precise geolocation, message contents, and biometric information processed to identify a consumer.
Saconde may collect and use such information to:
- perform services requested by a consumer;
- verify and maintain account security;
- resist malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal actions;
